The Jigawa State Police Command has said two farmers have lost their lives while attempting to cross river in Kazuba village of Kiyawa Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson, SP Abdu Jinjiri, who confirmed the incident to DAILY POST in Dutse, said the accident occurred on 20/7/2019 at about 1620hrs.
He explained that Kiyawa Local Government Police Division received information that two persons drowned in river while trying to cross river to visit their farms.
Jinjiri said those who lost their lives including Rabiu Abubakar of 30 years of kagadama village and 35-year-Adamu Sa’idu of kazuba village all in Kiyawa Local Government.
He said Rabi’u Abubakar was discovered dead on the same day by good Samaritans of the area.
Jinjiri added that Adamu Sa’du was later found dead by the river side on 21/7/2019 at about 1230hrs.
He, however, said all the deceased were examined dead by doctor at Kiyawa General Hospital and confirmed dead.
He noted that the remains of the deceased were released to their families and have since been buried according to Islamic teaching.
Jinjiri also warned farmers to be careful while trying to cross river especially at this time when water is over flooding.
