A nanny, Kemi Odetayo, on Thursday appeared at an Ikeja Magistrates' Court, for allegedly stealing her employer's 1,300 dollars, 2,300 Euros and 200 pounds (about N1.499million).
A 46-year-old nanny, Kemi Odetayo, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing her employer’s foreign currencies.
Odetayo, who lives at No. 2 Akanni Dosumu Street, Ilupeju, Lagos, was alleged to have stolen $1,300, €2,300 and £200.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the two counts of unlawful entry and stealing preferred against her.
The police prosecutor, Mike Unah, alleged that the nanny broke into her employer’s bedroom and stole the money, which belonged to one Babatunde Sofola.
According to him, the defendant also stole Korres Summer Wood Cologne valued at N12,000, as well as a pair of trousers, one T-shirt and a pair of navy shorts.
Unah stated that the offences contravened the provisions of sections 287 and 308 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
It was learnt that the offences were allegedly committed on May 20 and May 25, this year.
The presiding Magistrate A. A. Fashola, admitted Odetayo to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate adjourned the case till September 11 for hearing.
