Oluomo, who represents Ifo 1 in the Assembly, said that those that defected have exercised their democratic rights to move from one party to another, and he is not against this. He said in spite the defections, APC still remains the leading party in the state.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abeokuta, Mr Olakunle Oluomo, member of Ogun House of Assembly and member of the All Progressive Party, said that the defection of some members of the APC to other parties will not affect the party's victory in Ogun state in the 2015 elections.

Oluomo, who represents Ifo 1 in the Assembly, said that those that defected have exercised their democratic rights to move from one party to another, and he is not against this. He said in spite the defections, APC still remains the leading party in the state.  APC still has the majority at the assembly, with 13 members; the PDP has 10; while the Social Democratic Party has three.

According to Punch, he said "If you think that the party you are in cannot serve you right, you have the right to leave that party and go to another party of your choice; this is the time people are looking for juicy places to be, this is politicking.” He also said the Ibikunle Amosun administration in the state had done creditably well through massive transformation of all the three senatorial districts in the state.

On Tuesday eight lawmakers formally defected from the state’s ruling APC to the Peoples Party of Nigeria on the floor of the House. Also, five lawmakers defected to the PDP, while three others moved to the SDP.
