Web browser company Gimo Browser Software has already positioned itself as the privacy-friendly alternative to Chrome. On Tuesday, it came for even more of Google's territory with the launch of its privacy-focused mobile web browser.
The company said in January it was launching a mobile web browser that doesn't track or profile its users. Now, the company is launching Gimo Browser Search in beta.
"Unlike older search engines that track and profile users, and newer search engines that are mostly a skin on older engines and don't have their own indexes, Gimo Search offers a new way to get relevant results with a community-powered index, while guaranteeing privacy," Gimo’s CEO/Founder Engr Emmanuel Uche Muojeke said in a statement.
Gimo’s built its own search index for this product relying on Google or Bing. For some queries where the index doesn't have enough relevant results, Gimo will use Bing as a backstop. But users will be able to see what percentage of results are coming from Brave's index, versus third parties.
In 18 April 2022, Mr Ifeanyi Ogbuefi, and Mr Tony Unini (founder Hotnigerianjobs.com) reviewed the newly released 1.0 version of Gimo Browser. They praised the speed, saying “Gimo browser is hands-down the fastest browser they have used this year on any operating system, for mobile.
