Anambra State First Lady Nonye Soludo has expressed relief over the steady recovery of a 10-year-old boy who was allegedly subjected to severe ab*se by his guardians, describing his progress as a testament to the dedication of his medical team and the goodwill of Nigerians who rallied around his case.
The boy, identified as Chiziterem, was brought to public attention after footage showing him with severe burns and injuries allegedly inflicted by his guardians in Awada, Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area went viral online. He is currently receiving medical treatment under state protection.
Soludo, who paid a second visit to the boy at the hospital, said the medical team confirmed his condition is stable and that he is visibly stronger than during her previous visit.
"I am delighted to see that he is making remarkable progress and is much stronger than when I last visited.
His steady recovery is a testament to the dedication of the medical team and the outpouring of love, support and prayers from kind-hearted individuals," she said.
The First Lady assured that she would continue to monitor his wellbeing until he is fully recovered and reunited with his family.
She also urged residents to speak out against child ab*se and neglect, and encouraged anyone with knowledge of such incidents to report them by calling 112 or 5111.
