The Bida Local Government in Niger State has shut down ice cream factories that had no licence and no NAFDAC number.
During an inspection, officials found flies in the ice cream mix.
The products had no labels, so there was no way to tell what was inside or where the ingredients came from.
Lab tests on the substances used reportedly showed no real nutrition and some materials that are dangerous to health.
The council also removed the equipment and materials from the sites.
The raid followed complaints from residents about a factory near the Federal Polytechnic.
Many vendors reportedly gathered there every morning to buy ice cream for sale around Bida.
Health councillor Ahmed Danladi said the council will keep checking food makers.
Council chairman UM Manko will take action against anyone who breaks the rules.
Residents were asked to report any suspicious food production or sales to the proper authorities.
