Soldiers Recover Solar Batteries And Lights Stolen From Jos Cemetery

Troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have recovered some stolen Solar power accessories which were installed at Zaria Road cemetery in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Bashir Muhammad, leader of the gravediggers told Daily Trust that they suspected that people living close to the cemetery were behind the theft.

Muhammad said;

“We just woke up one day and discovered that two of the solar batteries and some lights were removed. A week after, six batteries and some panels were removed again. Some days after that, 12 more batteries were removed.

“We then reported the case to the Sector 1 of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) and they quickly swung into action. We suspected some people living close to the cemetery. So the soldiers stormed the house of one of the suspects and found four of the solar batteries in a room. They arrested the occupants of the room who confessed that they had sold the other ones.

“The soldiers insisted that they must return all the remaining solar parts before they would be released. The soldiers asked the relatives of the culprits to provide the missing solar parts before they would be released and they brought them.”
