Three victims including a fresh graduate of the University of Maiduguri identified as Baba Alaji, were killed as suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked military vehicles escorting motorists along Gwoza- Limankara-Uvaha road in Gwoza local government area of Borno State.
LIB reported that the incident happened around 5: PM on Saturday, September 23, 2023, when the soldiers and civilian JTF were providing cover to passengers travelling to Gwoza, Askira-Uba LGA in Borno and Northern parts of Adamawa State.
According to reports, the terrorists also set ablaze five commercial vehicles including a security patrol vehicle, adding that scores of motorists and passengers were either abducted or missing in action.
It was gathered that Alaji went to UNIMAID on Friday, September 23, to collect his statement of result and was heading back the following day when the terrorists attacked motorists.
The deceased was laid to rest at Gwange cemetery after a funeral prayer at the University of Maiduguri central mosque on Sunday morning, September 24.
