A Nigerian man who is yet to be identified, has been rescued by bystanders from committing suicide in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
The video, which has gone viral on the internet, was shared on X on Wednesday.
The video showed that the man attempted to hang himself using a noose tied to a banner hanging on a bridge.
In recent times, suicide cases in the country have been on the rise.
The report cited a 2019 World Health Organisation (WHO) report ‘‘Suicide in the World: Global Health Estimates’’, indicating that Nigeria has become one of the epicentres of suicide in the world, with a suicide estimate of 17.3 per 100,000.
According to the report, this is higher than the global (10.5 per 100,000) and Africa (12.0 per 100,000) estimates.
