Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar
Ex-governor of Zamfara state, Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has opined that the solution to the worsening banditry in the state and the country at large is divine intervention.
Yari, currently a Senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial Zone, made the disclosure at his Talata Mafara residence.
According to him, most of the residents have diverted from the divine and holy messages contained in the Qur’an and teachings of Prophet Muhammad which emphasize absolute need for brotherhood and selflessness.
“Imagine how most of the people are living ungodly lives in the society, they lack human feelings, they stopped being good even to their families and neighbours, to the employers and both the governments, religious and traditional leaders”, he lamented.
“Should we all drop wickedness and other religiously prohibited attitudes, I am certain that Almighty Allah will seize over his punishments we are currently suffering in our dear state and nation at large.”
The Senator lamented that every effort to end banditry either by the use force or dialogue by the governments has failed. He said the situation is fast deteriorating to the extent that people could not run their legitimate businesses, no farming, no trading and other sources of living.
He also stated that the harsh situation people are living in was a result of lack of focus on agriculture.
