Toyin Abraham
The Lagos State Police Command arraigned six suspects on Tuesday, January 31, at the Igbosere Chiefs Magistrate’s Court for pirating Toyin Abraham‘s movie Malaika.
Police attorneys from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (ForceCID) Annex Alagbon-Ikoyi Lagos presented the defendants, Kehinde Oseni, Adekunle Segun, Adebiyi Sodiq, Oseni S. Akano, Mrs. Agboola Motunrayo, and Mrs. Adebiyi Suliat, before Chief Magistrate E. Ogunkanmi.
They were accused of stealing intellectual property, conspiring, and attempting to sway the course of justice.
Morufu Animashaun, the prosecutor, told the court that they had all planned and carried out the alleged illegal conduct in January at Apapa.
To avoid being arrested, Animashaun told him further. Animashaun informed the court that the offenders had violated sections 411, 972, 415, and 87 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015, and were punishable under the saw laws.
All the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Animashaun asked the court to remand them to the Correctional Center until the outcome of the charge after they entered a not guilty plea.
However, Ganiyu Oyarevuegbe, their attorney, requested their bail orally and in the most permissive terms.
