Drama Looms As Gombe Community Drags Governor Yahaya, Emir To Court For Stopping Mosque Reconstruction Project

Muhammadu Yahaya, the Gombe State Governor, has been dragged to court for allegedly stopping the reconstruction work of the central mosque in the state.
 
Joined as defendants in the suit filed by Tumu Community in the Akko Local Government Area is Emir of Pindiga, Ahmed Seyoji-Mohammed, the Attorney-General, Zubairu Umar, and the Commissioner for local government and community development, Abdulkadir Muhammed.
 
Senator Danjuma Goje, who represents Gombe Central Senatorial district at the Nigeria's upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly, was building the mosque before the project was halted.
 
The plaintiff - who are aggrieved residents filed the suit on behalf of the community to express their displeasure over the governor's directive to stop the reconstruction of the Central Mosque.
 
They want the court to restrain the governor or whosoever from interfering, stopping or disrupting the reconstruction of the mosque under whatever reason (s).
 
Mohammed Yero, Bello Ali-Tumu, and Danjuma Mukhtari, who represents the Tumu Community in suit, also sought among other reliefs, "an order of court restraining the defendants from depriving the community of the development initiative."
 
Adamu Mohammed-Manga, an aide to Senator Goje, had recently alleged that the state government was frustrating the project in the community.
 
According to Mohammed-Manga, the emir allegedly stopped the reconstruction of the Central Mosque located near his palace and that of Tumu over fear of the state governor, Yahaya.
 
Mohammed-Manga said, "The Emir has told me unequivocally that if he allows the project to be done by him, Governor Inuwa will dethrone him."
