On Thursday, a 30-year-old man named Ali Salisu appeared before a Lugbe Grade I Area Court in Abuja on charges of stealing musical instruments valued at N1.8 million from a church.

Salisu, who lives in Waru village in Kabusa, Abuja , is charged with housebreaking and theft.

The prosecuting counsel, Mr S. O. Osho, earlier told the court that the defendant broke into the church (name withheld) ran by Pastor Bimbo Okoli of House 4 plot 2B, Super Cell Shara 1 estate, Kabusa, Abuja.

Osho said the defendant, who once worked for the church, stole an amplifier, generator cable, and drum sets, all valued at N1.8 million.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 312 and 322 of the penal code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The judge, Malam Aliyu Kagarko, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N3 million with one surety in like sum.

The judge adjourned the case until April 17 for further hearing.
