Police Eliminate Two Armed Bandits In Katsina

Two suspected armed bandits have been eliminated by the Katsina State Police Command in Kankara Local Government Area of the state.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, who disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, said one AK-47 rifle with 5 live ammunition and 34 suspected rustled cows were recovered after the fierce gun duel with the bandits.
 
“Today, Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at about 0700 hrs, the command, in synergy with members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC) and local vigilante, has succeeded in foiling an attempted cattle rustling, at Gidan-Boka village, Yargoje ward, Kankara LGA, Katsina State,” the statement read.

"Following a tip-off, operatives attached to the Kankara divisional police headquarters tracked the movement of some suspected armed bandits with suspected rustled animals to a point at Gidan-Boka forest in Yargoje ward. The operatives, led by the DPO, engaged the suspected bandits in a fierce gun duel, resulting in the neutralisation of two (2) suspected armed bandits.

"In the course of scanning the scene, one (1) Ak 47 rifle with five (5) rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, one (1) operational motorcycle belonging to the bandits, and thirty-four (34) suspected rustled cows, were recovered from the scene. Investigation is currently ongoing with a view to identifying and arresting the fleeing suspects.
