A vigilante group in the Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, known as "Yan Sakai," has apprehended two notorious kidnappers who have been terrorizing the community.
The suspects who simply self-identified as Yellow and Sallau were paraded before the Emir of Ningi, Alh Haruna Danyaya III, after their arrest.
The suspects confessed to k!lling one Hardo Bombi after collecting N2 million ransom. They also k!lled Sarkin Lambu and collected N7 million ransom.
In a video clip posted on the Emirate’s Facebook page, Yellow and Sallau who confessed to having masterminded many kidnapping incidents in Ningi, said they have collected up to N50 million as ransom from the families of their victims
Yellow said they have on three different occasions carried out kidnappings in Dogon Ruwa where prominent Fulani leaders were abducted by them.
“We have received up to N50 million ransom and we have carried out 3 operations in Dogon Ruwa,” he said.
Confirming the incident, Usman Saleh Magayaki, the Secretary of Ningi Emirate Council said their arrest followed an order issued by the late Emir where he directed local quasi-security operatives to complement the efforts of conventional security agencies in the fight against banditry and kidnappings in the Emirate.
Saleh Magayaki said the two kingpins were responsible for the kidnapping of prominent community leaders in the Emirate including the village head of Bombi and the Ward Head of Lambu.
“They confessed to be responsible for the k!lling of Hardo Bombi whom they k!lled after collecting N2 million ransom. They also k!lled Sarkin Lambu and collected N7 million ransom, and they are also responsible for kidnapping locals in Balma where they received a lot of money”.
“Many kidnapping incidents that happened in the Emirate, they were the masterminds. Their arrest is a great achievement in the Emirate. They are currently with ‘Yan Sakai who will later hand them over to the police after they conduct their investigation," he added.
The Secretary said the Emir Danyaya had commended the efforts of the vigilante group and ordered them to hand over the suspects to the police for further investigation.
