Two suspects have been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command with a large quantity of gunpowder concealed in a bag of Garri.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga on Wednesday also confirmed that one locally-made pistol and live ammunition were also recovered during the operation.
The command said the feat was achieved when its Police-led Joint Security Force was on an intelligent-driven routine patrol along the pillar-pole area of Aguata on Sunday.

The operatives upon search of the suspect discovered beneath the edible, a large quantity of gunpowder.
Preliminary information revealed that the suspect was en route to a criminal camp to deliver groceries for consumption and gunpowder for the production of improvised explosives for the gang. The suspect is currently in custody and assisting the police to arrest the other gang members.
In another development, Operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Squad (SPACS) acting on credible information, stormed a criminal hideout in Oba Idemili South LGA, in the early hours of today, arrested one Nelson Wisdom from Etsako East, Edo State, and recovered one locally fabricated pistol with two live ammunition.
Speaking, the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam reiterated that the Police Command and other security agencies will continue to act on information to sustain the onslaught of operation and to frustrate evil plans of the criminal elements in the State.
“All suspects shall be charged to court on the conclusion of the investigation,” the statement added.
