The Catholic Priest who was seen in a viral video knocking a Mass server on the head has tendered an apology.
A video shared online showed the priest officiating a wedding ceremony when he knocked the altar boy who was assisting him for not holding the microphone close enough to the groom's mouth.
The video sparked outrage and the priest has now apologised for his actions.
In a new video, the priest is seen meeting with the family of the altar boy he knocked.
The priest explained that the knock happened "accidentally" and "mistakenly".
The priest also apologised to the boy he knocked.
"I'm sorry for what happened. It was not a deliberate act," the priest said.
He added that he knocked the boy "unconsciously" because the groom's voice was not loud enough due to the positioning of the mic.
The family of the boy responded that they have not seen the video. But they assured the priest that there is "nothing wrong" in him hitting their son.
The priest agreed, saying: "It was a minor correction, but, you know, people want something to blow out of proportion."
A man, believed to be the boy's father said: "I even like it, it's what you should do. There is nothing wrong. I'll even blame you if you're supposed to do it and you don't do it."
The boy's father added that he never heard about the knock his son received and his son knows not to report the priest.
"But there's no way he would have told me because he knew I'll blame him," the boy's father said. "So he, himself, thought it was normal correction."
"It's a normal correction," the priest agreed.
The priest then motioned for the boy to approach him and when he did, he touched the boy on his head and apologised to him
The boy's father then said: "He knew that if he tells me, I'll not be happy with him."
He then told the priest: "Ahn ahn, is that why you came here?"
He assured the priest that he has no issues with him correcting his son.
"Don't mind them," the father told the priest as they exchanged phone contact.
