President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Wahid Oshodi after he emerged President of the African Table Tennis Federation (ATTF).
Oshodi’s unanimous election took place during the 2024 Annual General Meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on Tuesday, October 15, marking a significant moment for Nigeria and the African table tennis community.
Note that Oshodi was nominated by the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation and subsequently received the backing of other African countries to emerge ATTF president.
In a statement by President Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, the president commended Oshodi’s achievement, emphasizing the strong support he received from Nigeria and several African nations.
Tinubu highlighted Oshodi’s unwavering commitment to the development of table tennis at the grassroots level in Nigeria, as well as his exemplary integrity, accountability, and dedication to sports administration. He noted that Oshodi’s election reflects a vote of confidence in his leadership and a recognition of his significant contributions to the sport.
In addition, President Tinubu expressed confidence in Oshodi’s ability to leverage his extensive leadership experience to elevate the ATTF and propel the sport of table tennis to greater success across the African continent.
Note that Wahid Oshodi is the second Nigerian to be elected as the ATTF president.
