Alleged Defamation: Seun Kuti Demands Justice For Dele Farotimi (Video)

Nigerian Afrobeats star, Seun Kuti has condemned the arrest of human rights lawyer, Dele Farotimi after he was charged with defamation by legal icon, Afe Babalola.

In a video, Kuti cautioned Nigerians about the police being utilized for oppression, querying the consequences of boosting law enforcement to arrest individuals for expressing their opinions.

Kuti also addressed the public’s reaction to Farotimi’s arrest, highlighting the inconsistency in celebrating the arrest of one individual while condemning the arrest of another.

He called on prominent lawyers in Nigeria to take a stand against laws and actions that restrict freedom of speech.

Kuti emphasized the need to fight for justice and demanded Farotimi’s immediate release.

He stated, “We cannot have a society where you cannot speak your mind against anybody without being arrested… I expect big lawyers in Nigeria to take a stance against this law that restricts Nigerians… We need to fight against the law that limits freedom of speech. Free Dele Farotimi!”
