US-Based Nigerian Man Alleges Police Harassment Over Dreadlocks

A Nigerian man residing in the United States has recounted his encounter with police officers during a recent visit to Nigeria, claiming he was harassed because of his appearance.

In a video posted online, he revealed he was stopped by officers who searched his belongings and vehicle, allegedly because of his dreadlocks.

According to him, the officers insisted on taking him to the station, despite finding nothing incriminating.

He claimed the situation escalated when he refused to pay a bribe, noting that the officers appeared determined to waste his time and pressure him into offering money.

The man said he contacted the U.S. embassy during the encounter, after which he was eventually allowed to leave.
