Tears, Confusion As Ponzi Rice Scheme Promoter Disappears With Customers’ Deposits In

Confusion broke out in Auchi, the headquarters of Etsako West Local Government Area in Edo State, on Thursday morning after a trader who collected N20,000 from residents for a bag of rice suddenly disappeared.

The trader, whose identity is yet to be ascertained and operating under the Nations Pride Integrated Scheme, had sold some bags of rice for N20,000.

Over 1,000 residents paid for rice and other items they thought could be purchased at cheaper prices, as promised by the operators.

They were, however, shocked, when they saw empty shops on yesterday morning.

Witnesses said the shop where the operators worked had been vandalised.
