A new date has been announced for the trial of the senate president after proceedings at the CCT were postponed due to the unavailability of the star witness from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Bukola Saraki
The trial of the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, on charges of false and anticipatory asset declaration before the Code of Conduct Tribunal in Abuja, is to resume on June 7.
The Federal Government is prosecuting Saraki on 16 counts, including false and anticipatory asset declaration in his asset declaration forms which he submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau between 2003 and 2011 when he served as Governor of Kwara State.
Saraki has made several failed attempts at the level of the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court to stall the trial.
