Victor Osimhen, the striker for Galatasaray, revealed that he had initially aimed to join Juventus before eventually signing with the Turkish Süper Lig champions.
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nigerian international reflected on his desire to join the ‘top’ Serie A club but noted that Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, was unwilling to facilitate a transfer to Juventus.
Eventually, Osimhen first moved to Galatasaray on loan before making the move permanent the next season.
“I had the opportunity to join Juventus, yes,” Osimhen said as he prepares for Galatasaray’s Champions League Round of 16 playoff first leg against Juventus on Tuesday.
“Juve wanted to sign me… but Napoli president De Laurentiis didn’t want to sell me to Juventus.
“For sure, Juventus are a top club. When Juventus calls you, you listen.”
