Bayelsa is rolling out the red carpet for a historic "Super Friday"! To welcome President Bola Tinubu, the state has hit the pause button on daily life—declaring a public holiday and shutting down all markets for a grand reception.

In advance of President Bola Tinubu's visit to the state, the Bayelsa State Government has ordered the closure of markets and proclaimed Friday to be a work-free day.
The state Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai, disclosed this on Thursday in Yenagoa, the state capital.
Bayelsa is fully prepared to welcome President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. She described the President as the "father of the nation" and confirmed his one-day visit is specifically to commission four major "legacy projects" completed in the state. “In view of this, the state government has declared tomorrow, Friday, April 10, 2026, a work-free day to enable workers and other residents of the State to participate in the programmes lined up for the one-day official visit to Bayelsa State.”
In her opinion, Tinubu is expected to inaugurate key projects during the visit, including a state-owned gas turbine at Opolo-Elebele, a 60-kilometre dual carriageway from Onopa to the LNG axis, and a 630-metre bridge linking Angiama to Oporoma in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.
Koku-Obiyai urged residents, including traders, to comply with the directive and turn out to welcome the President.
The government explained that these steps were taken to guarantee the President's visit goes off without a hitch. By declaring a holiday and closing markets, they aim to manage the crowds and ensure a seamless, successful event for everyone involved.
