Davido's HKN Gang artiste and singer, Adebayo Adeleke a.k.a B-RED who hails from Osun State, has spoken out in a new interview and reveals his pride in collaborating with American singer, Akon in his new single 'Cucumber', he also revealed how he sold CD's with his cousin Davido in America to make money while growing up. Below are excerpts from his interview;
You will be dropping your latest single titled, ‘Cucumber’. What is ‘Cucumber’ all about?
It is about a girl that I like who doesn’t like me but only wants to date me and have sex meaning she only wants to keep cucumber. While for me I don’t want the one night stand thing. It’s a nice song, a party song and you’ll love it when it drops.
Did you write the song with the intention of featuring Akon?
I wrote it and did it alone, but after the ‘Meek Mill’ video with me and Davido in America, we went to Akon’s studio because Akon is on David’s album too. While at the studio, after Davido played his songs for him, I also played ‘Cucumber.’ Akon requested that I play it again. Even Davido and his manager were surprised. Akon made me play it for him like four times. He fell in love with the jam and said I should leave it with him and the next day, I collected it. Normally, you have to pay for something like this, but I got it for free. It is the grace of God.
People think you are riding on Davido’s wings to gain fame..what's your say?
We have been there together hustling before the fame and glamour, Davido, I and one Jamaican guy used to go sell CDS in America and make money. Though our family had money we had to hustle on our own to survive. When my uncle sent police to chase us out of hotels and not to go to shows since the age of two we have been together. I feel I’m number one because he is number one and I feel happy when I see him holding many wards.
