El-Rufai Says He Is Not Angry With Those Who Left Him

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has broken his silence on people who have not stood by him in his current situation, saying he holds no hate or anger toward them.

In a statement released on social media on Wednesday, he said he has supported people and causes over the years based on his faith, his northern upbringing, his values and what he believes is right, not because he expected praise or favors in return.

El-Rufai said those he helped are free to decide how they respond to his present circumstances.

Some may speak out for him, others may say nothing and some may even pretend they never knew him or tell false stories about their past ties.

He said their reasons are their own and he will not judge them just because they did not do what he might have done or what others expected.

The former governor said his recent troubles have made him think hard about some of his relationships.

He said hard times show you who people really are.

This may lead him to look again at what certain relationships mean and what people who follow him expect of him.

But he stressed this is not blame or anger at anyone.

He has no regrets about supporting people or causes when he felt it was right, he said, and he will not let what others do change the beliefs that have guided him.

On any wrong done to him, ingratitude or hurt, he said he will not seek payback.

He said only God is truly accountable and he will leave that judgment to Him in this world and the next.

El-Rufai ended by saying all he cares about is being at peace with himself and with God.

He said each person must live with the choices they make and time will judge them as it sees fit.

His only worry is staying at peace with his own heart and above all with God.
