Shocker! Prisoner Caught Trying to Brutally Kill a Guard With a Towel In Front of Other Prisoners (Video)

A prisoner has been caught on camera trying to kill a guard right inside the prison where he was being held up as punishment for his criminal act.

A video has shown the shocking moment a prisoner in Florida attacked a guard and tried to strangle him with a towel before he was tackled to the ground by fellow inmates when they stepped in to save the officer.

Security cameras inside the Falkenburg Road Jail in Tampa captured the moment Kiondre Zachery, 22, attempted to strangle Deputy D. Hernandez in the unprovoked attack on Tuesday.

Zachery could be clearly seen wrapping the towel around the 31-year-old guard's neck in front of 72 other inmates in the packed jail pod.

Deputy Hernandez was filmed struggling with the inmate before he managed to escape from Zachery's grasp.

Zachery then appeared to try and punch the guard before his fellow inmates pounced and helped tackle him to the ground.

They helped Deputy Hernandez hold him down until backup arrived.

According to Daily Mail UK, the guard suffered a twisted ankle, bruised knee and abrasions to his neck from the attack.

He has been a guard at the prison for 10 months. Zachery was in prison for burglary.

He has now been charged aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and moved to an isolation cell.

Hillsborough County sheriff's office said the inmates had saved the guard from being seriously injured.

'Due to the overall professionalism and respect that detention deputies display towards the inmates on a daily basis, the inmates came to the deputy's aid preventing the deputy from being seriously injured,' the sheriff's office said.

'This incident highlights the extreme danger the men and women working at the Hillsborough County Department of Detention Services face everyday.

'It also shows that because most inmates know that the deputies inside the pods are not adversaries and are treated fairly and with respect.'
