Finally, Hundreds Of Bayelsa Indigenes Sacked By Violence Return Home

 

A Punch Metro report has shown that over 300 indigenes of Peremabiri community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, forced to relocate from their area two years ago, have returned to their community.

 

The Peremabiri indigenes, comprising men, women and children, fled their community following a widespread violence that erupted in the area.

 

Since their relocation, they (indigenes) have been camped in Yenagoa, the state capital, by the state government.

 

The indigenes returned to their community last Saturday amid fanfare danced applauding the Seriake Dickson government for coming to their rescue when their existence was threatened by hoodlums.

 

Speaking on the safe return of the Peramabiri indigenes, the state government, through the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, noted that their safe return signalled the dawn of peace to the once-troubled community.

 

Iworiso-Markson expressed profound gratitude to Governor Seriake Dickson for providing a safe place in Yenagoa for the displaced persons and picking up all their bills for almost two years.

 

He said the governor demonstrated the commitment of a leader who is passionate about the welfare of his people.

 

The Commissioner also commended the security agencies for restoring the peace of the community, charging them to maintain it.
