One of the contestants at the 86th edition of the Miss America beauty pageant, stole the show when she put up a totally different act from what is usually seen in such competitions.

A beauty queen, who dared to be different in a pageant ditched the sparkly dresses and energetic dance routines - and managed to inspire the entire audience.

Kelley Johnson, also known as Miss Colorado, decided to forgo the glitz and glamour of Miss America's 86th beauty pageant, in favour of her plain nurse uniform for the 'talent' round of the competition.

Taking to the stage in a pair of blue scrubs, the 22-year-old gave a touching monologue about her experience as a nurse - referring to one particular patient who she felt had made her job worthwhile.
