A promising Nigerian army captain has lost his life in the hands of deadly armed bandits in Zamfara state.

It has been revealed that a Captain in the Nigerian Army, Sulaiman Muhammad died alongside another soldier when they were ambushed by armed bandits in Bawar Daji, Anka Local government area of Zamfara state.
21 of the armed bandits were also killed in the encounter that happened on the 4th of April, 2018.
Mr Muhammad was the officer commanding the troops in Bawar Daji Operations before paying the supreme sacrifice to his fatherland. He is survived by one wife and children.
A native of Potiskum area of Yobe state, Mr Muhammad’s colleagues described him as a committed and patriotic officer that has demonstrated high level of patriotism in the course of his duties.
A statement by the army revealed how the tragic encountered happened:
“Troops of 232 Battalion Zuru, on clearance patrols on Wednesday, April 4, neutralized 21 armed bandits in encounter at Tunga Daji in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
“During the fierce battle many bandits escaped with gunshot wounds to the top of high ground close to the area.
“Unfortunately, we lost an officer and a soldier during the encounter. The remains of the gallant troops have been evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau.” army statement read.
