NDLEA To Investigate Davido's "Fans Mi" Video

Posted by Daniel on Sun 28th Jun, 2015 - tori.ng

Multiple award winning pop singer, Davido, is in trouble with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, over his new song/titled 'Fans mi'.

When BET Award nominee, Davido, recorded his latest single 'Fans mi' featuring Maybach Music rapper, Meek Mill, he didn't anticipate that the video, which garnered 1 million views in 16 days of its release, would attract the attention of the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA.

In the video, directed by Sesan, which some critics have faulted for promoting nudity, drug trafficking, violence and fraud, Davido played the role of a shady drug dealer, who sold semovita flour as cocaine to a cartel.

Throughout the 3:43secs video, assault rifles and pistols were displayed while semi-clad girls were flaunting their 'assets'.

While the video seemed 'innocent' in the sense that Davido promoted the local delicacy of semovita and vegetable leaf soup, the NDLEA thinks it has a negative influence on the youth.

The spokesperson for the anti-narcotics agency, Mitchell Ofoyeju told the Sunday Telegraph that "The agency considers the musical video 'Fans Mi' inappropriate and indecent. It has the tendency to negatively influence and induce drug use and trafficking".

"Besides, it is counter-productive on the campaign against drug production, trafficking and abuse. The agency is investigating the matter and will take necessary action", he added.
