Umahi Orders Tinubu Pictures on First Niger Bridge After Repairs

The Minister of Works has ordered that pictures of President Tinubu be put on the First Niger Bridge linking Anambra and Delta states.

Umahi gave the directive on Wednesday during an inspection of the bridge rehabilitation work at the Onitsha end in Anambra State.

He said the South-East and South-South Senior Special Assistants to the President should beautify and paint the bridge with Tinubu's pictures because the President deserves to be thanked for his quick help and the quality of work being done on the project.

The minister also ordered the removal of all illegal billboards on the bridge and said anyone wanting to advertise must first get approval from the Ministry of Works.

Umahi also said more solar lights would be installed on the bridge and ordered the completion of the closed-circuit television cameras and their connection to the Second Niger Bridge right away.

He said he had set up a committee to examine the condition of the bridge both above and below water level and that they would report back by end of work the next day.

The First Niger Bridge connecting Onitsha in Anambra with Asaba in Delta State is being fixed after some of its parts were vandalised.

Umahi said the bridge would not reopen until the rehabilitation was done to make sure it is safe before people use it again.
