Speaking in an exlcusive interview while answering questions about his inability to break into the Chelsea FC team this season after missing pre-season due to his 2016 Rio Olympics adventure, captain of the Super Eagles, John Obi Mikel, who won bronze at the football event in Brazil, says he does not and will never regret going to Rio.

The captain of the Dream Team VI who led the Nigerian team to triumph in Rio, Brazil, reiterated further that he has no regrets whatsoever as his club coach, Antonio Conte continue to ignore him.

“I have never been a guy who make excuses in life; I never shy away from my responsibilities but maybe people will look at it that way and say yes because he went to the Olympics.

“That the new coach came in and probably was upset that I left to go and play at the Olympics, probably he thinks I don’t care about the team.

“I don’t want to give any excuses, I have to keep training, working hard and trying to change the manager’s mind but if at the end of the day, it doesn’t happen. Then it doesn’t.

“Like I have said, I will keep working hard so that whenever I am been call upon I will be ready and we will see what happens in January. I have to be professional as I have been all these while.

“No! I won’t trade the Olympics gold for a spot in Chelsea. One thing you will have to do in life as a man is when you make a decision and at the end of the day you will have to live with it.

“I have no regrets at all, no one single regret going to the Olympics. I will not trade my Olympics medal for anything. I deserve it. It is what I worked so hard for. Why will I trade it for something else?,” he said.
