How Two Serving APC Senators Lost Their Primaries In Niger

Two serving senators under the umbrella of the All Progressives Congress, have lost their primary elections.

Two out of three serving senators of the All Progressives Congress in Niger State, on Tuesday, lost their bid to return to the National Assembly, Punch Metro reports.
 
The two were defeated in the party’s primary election conducted across the three senatorial districts in the state.
 
In Niger East Senatorial District, two-time senator and Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary and Human Right, David Umoru, lost to a new entrant, Sani Musa.
 
Also in the Niger North Senatorial District, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Information, Senator Aliyu Abdullahi, lost to the Niger State Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development and Chieftaincy Affair, Zakari Jikantoro.
 
In Niger South, voting was still ongoing as of the time of filing this report as voting was delayed due to the late arrival of voting materials.
 
Meanwhile, all the three senatorial candidates for the Peoples Democratic Party in the state have emerged after it primaries conducted at the party’s zonal headquarters across the state on Tuesday.
 
In the Niger East Senatorial District,  Ibrahim Isyaku emerged the party’s candidate after defeating three other candidates.
 
Also in Niger South, a former House of Representatives member, Baba shehu Agaie, emerged the party’s candidate after defeating a former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Abdulrahaman Gimba,  and a former PDP Chairman in the state, Abdulraham Enagy.
