Serious crisis is looming in a community in Ondo state as the many indigenes demand that their king be removed.

Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu

Some indigenes of Ayetoro community in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday called on the State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu and the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gbenga Adeyanju to remove an alleged self-imposed Ogeloyinbo of Ayetoro, Oba Oluwambe Ojagbohunmi, Punch Metro reports.

Ojagbohunmi, was reportedly installed by some kingmakers in the coastal community a few days ago. The development was said to have been rejected by some indigenes of the town.

Some elders of the community also alleged that Ojagbohunmi illegally installed himself as the king and spiritual head of the community without the approval of the elders and the stakeholders of the town.

Speaking with journalists on behalf of other elders, the Secretary-General of the Ayetoro Community, Rev. Dele Kudehinbu, said the community already had a king, who he identified as Oba Micah Ajijo.

According to him, Ajijo was appointed and crowned as the monarch of the community in 2015 by the Board of Trustees of the community and the Ogeloyinbo-in-Council while the state and local governments, as well as all stakeholders, were duly informed.

He said Oba Ajijo, who was currently out of the country, was the person recognised as the king of the community, by the government and other stakeholders, alleging that Ojagbohunmi was only imposing himself on the people of the community.

He also alleged that the embattled traditional ruler organised a group called ‘Prayer Warrior Group’ which he allegedly used to terrorise the residents of the community.
