Confusion As Young Woman Drowns Inside A River In Kaduna

According to Daily Trust, there was confusion at Hayin Malam Bello Community of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday evening ‘as a young lady drowned in a river in the area.

The unknown lady and other passengers were inside a tricycle when it got submerged as they tried to cross over the flooded bridge.

A witness told Daily Trust that the incident occurred a few minutes after 6:pm when it was raining.

A Daily Trust correspondent who visited the scene gathered that the tricycle operator and the victim’s friend were rescued by passersby and taken away from the scene. A shop owner close to where the incident occurred told our correspondent that the lady couldn’t be saved as she disappeared into the water.

Another witness said he heard the rescued friend of the lady making calls to inform their relations that the lady was missing.

“Immediately her friend was rescued from the tricycle, I saw her making phone call in tears that Balaraba is in the river,” he said.

Daily Trust also gathered that nobody knew where they were headed before the incident. Daily Trust  reports that Hayin Malam Bello residents always complain about the bridge as it gets flooded anytime there is heavy rainfall, making it dangerous for pedestrian and motorists to ply the road.
