The abducted pastor of the Living Faith Ministries (Winners’ Chapel), Moses Adeleke, who was abducted in April by Boko Haram alongside a woman, one Ndagilaya Umar of the Government Science Secondary School, Askira Uba, in Borno State, have regained their freedom.

A report by a news platform, DESERT HERALD, said the pastor’s freedom was initiated by the state Governor, Babagana Zulum, through the help of two influential non-governmental organisation with sufficient knowledge and contacts with the dreaded insurgents.

DESERT HERALD reported that the NGOs, Initiative for Peace Building Movement and the Kalthum Foundation for Peace, with the support of the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services secured the freedom of the duo.

The Initiative for peace is being run by Hammajam Adamu and Inuwa Yikala, while Kalthum is led by a woman, Ummukalthum Umar.

Both Adamu and Umar were said to have the listening ears of the Abubakar Shekau’s led Boko Haram.

It was gathered that the mission that led to the freedom of Oyeleke and Umar started penultimate week with briefings and discussions with Zulum before the military was informed.

The DESERT HERALD reported that on Saturday, November, 9 2019, when President Muhammadu Buhari gave his approval, a special team from the Nigerian Army, the DSS and three persons representing the two NGOs begun the risky journey.

The captives were eventually released on Sunday November 10, 2019.

A source told the news platform that the Borno State Government sponsored the trip and coordination of the rescue mission, adding that no ransom was given to the Boko Haram insurgents.

DESERT HERALD reported that due to the latest understanding and the peaceful nature of the pastor’s release, many of those that were abducted might soon regain their freedom.

The freed pastor and woman were subsequently handed over the Borno Deputy Governor, Usman Kadafur, on Monday.
