A woman who lost a custody battle with the ex-husband has done an unthinkable thing that will leave her tormented for years.

A mother has been arrested and sentenced after authorities discovered she hid her two daughters for more than two years from ex-husband.

Samantha and Gianna Rucki, now 17 and 16 respectively, were found safe and in seemingly good health on a farm near Herman in Western Minnesota, where law enforcement officials arrived Wednesday to execute a search warrant “relating directly” to the missing girls, Lakeville Police said.

The sisters disappeared in 2013 from Lakeville, which is approximately 190 miles east of where they were found, after their father, David Rucki, was awarded full custody of the pair, according to reports.

He and their mother, Sandra Grazzini-Rucki, were embroiled in a bitter divorce and custody battle when the teens went missing. The girls’ mother had accused her husband of abusing her and the children, which David Rucki denied, ABC10 reported.

Grazzini-Rucki was arrested last month in Florida and was charged with deprivation of parental rights, Lakeville Police said. She reportedly provided no information about her daughters’ whereabouts and is currently in Dakota County jail, ACB10 reported.

“Charges may be forthcoming against additional persons involved in the girls’ disappearance,” police said in a statement.

"The sisters will return to Dakota County where the unification process can begin," police said.

U.S. Marshals and the Grant County Sheriff's Department assisted in the investigation, police said.
