Yemi Osinbajo, Muhammadu Buhari
According to Presidential aide, Garba Shehu, the presidency does not need to transmit power to Vice President, Osinbajo.
President Mohammadu Buhari, departed Nigeria for the UK on Tuesday March 30 for his medical checkup and some Nigerians are already saying that the President should handover power to the Vice President since he wouldn’t be in the country until April.
Speaking on Channels TV on March 30, Garba Shehu, said it is not necessary for the President to hand over power to Osinbajo.
“He (Buhari) will continue from wherever he is.
The requirement of the law is that the President is going to be absent in the country for 21 days and more, then that transmission is warranted. In this particular instance, it is not warranted.” he said
According to Garba Shehu, the presidency is not going for an emergency trip but for a yearly checkup.
