Mrs Sadiya Farouq, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, has disclosed that the Federal Government has spent over $5bn since 2016 to tackle poverty in the country.

The minister said this during the presentation of letters of engagement and electronic tablets to 248 monitors of the National Social Investment Programme NSIP programme in Adamawa state over the weekend.

The Minister who was represented at the event by the National Coordinator of NSIP, Dr Umar Bindir, said President Buhari has since 2016 backed his pledge to pull out 100 million Nigerians out of poverty by committing $1bn through the National Social Investment Programme to reduce poverty and inequality.
