As many as four people were on Friday confirmed dead in two separate attacks carried out by suspected gunmen in the Riyom and Bassa Local Government Areas of Plateau State, The PUNCH reports.
It was gathered that while one person was shot dead in Gwa Rim community in Riyom LGA, residents of Nche-Tahu community, Miango district in Bassa LGA disclosed that three persons were killed in the area by the suspected gunmen.
The assailants were said to have also burnt about 10 houses and injured two persons.
The Publicity Secretary of the Miango Youth Development Association, Nuhu Bitrus, who confirmed the incident to City Round gave the names of those killed in Bassa as Timothy Yakubu, Audu Dara, and Irimia David.
According to him, the two injured persons identified as Francis Ayuba and Anah Dick have been taken to Jos University Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention
Bitrus said, “It was last night that the gunmen attacked Nche-Tahu community in Miango, Bassa LGA and killed three of our people and injured two other persons. Ten houses were burnt to ashes in the same Nche-Tahu Village and valuable items and domestic animals carted away by the attackers. At the moment, we are crying for help at this trying times where the security of our community has become a nightmare.’’
Also confirming the killing in Gwa-Rim Community in Riyom LGA by the suspected gunmen, an official of the Emancipation Centre for Crisis Victims in Nigeria, Mr Dalyop Solomon, said one Amos Danladi was among the injured during the attack.
Solomon added that the gunmen also destroyed the victim’s farm crops in the neighbouring Jol community in the council area before they fled the area.
When contacted, spokesman for the state police, Ubah Ogaba, said security had been deployed to the affected areas and investigation had commenced.
