On Thursday night, Borrussia Dortmund forward and Gabonese international, Pierre-Emerick Aubamayang was crowned the African Player of the Year 2015 at the Glo-CAF Award ceremony held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
Manchester City's Yaya Toure who led the Cote d' Ivoire national team to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations title was the first runner-up, while Ghana and Swansea forward, Andre Ayew, the son of Ghana football legend, Andre Ayew was the third of the nominees.
Speaking after he was crowned on Thursday in Abuja, African Footballer Of the Year, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says he is proud to be the first Gabonese to win the prestigious award.
"I thank the people of Gabon, this award is for them. I’m very happy to be the first Gabonese to win the award. I want to thank my teammates in the national team and also at Dortmund. It is their work that helps me to score goals. For the parents of the youth of Africa, please give your kids a chance to realise their dreams," Aubameyang said in his acceptance speech.
