Three suspects have been arrested by the police in connection with the killing of two people in Sabon Garin Nasarawa, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
DAILY POST reports that the Kaduna government had on Monday imposed a 24-hour curfew on Sabon Garin Nasarawa following the violence, on Sunday night, which left two citizens dead and six others injured.
Samuel Aruwan, the state Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, in a statement on Monday, explained that the incident forced the state government to impose a 24-hour curfew on the area to forestall escalation of violence to other parts of the state.
He said that the government had banned social activities, including Kidan Bishi, Kidan Gala (drama house) as well as hunting expeditions to ensure sanity in the area.
The commissioner directed that security operatives should arrest anyone linked to the peddling of hard drugs in the Nasarawa and Sabon Garin Nasarawa areas.
The statement said in addition to the killing of two citizens, six persons were injured and are presently receiving medical attention, adding that several vehicles and properties were also destroyed in the incident.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai promised prompt action of the military and the police in preventing the violence from escalating beyond the area.
He assured that the matter would be investigated thoroughly.
