General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), a former Military Head of State, has reacted to the outcome of the governorship polls in Plateau State.
He said the declaration of Caleb Mutfwang as governor-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC is a demonstration of the decision of Plateau people at the polls.
He assured of his support to the Governor-Elect and the incoming administration.
Gowon disclosed this when the governor-elect, Plateau North senator-elect, Simon Mwadkwon and the state PDP Chairman, Chris Hassan paid him a visit at his residence in Abuja.
The elder statesman expressed joy over Caleb Mutfwang’s victory at the polls and the subsequent presentation of a certificate of return which resonated with jubilation among citizens.
Gowon explained that he believes it is God who gives power to whoever he wishes at any time without consulting any man.
The Governor-Elect, Caleb Mutfwang who was in Gowon’s residence to demonstrate honour, applauded him for the warm reception and for being accessible at all times.
Mutfwang pledged that he would properly and adequately engage the former Military leader and other respected leaders in Plateau for advice and elderly counsel to deepen peace, unity and development in the state.
Other respected Plateau sons who also accompanied the Governor-Elect on the important visit are Samuel Jatau and Yari Kumchi.
