A man identified as Nyeche Ajuru, has been arrested by police operatives in Rivers State.
Ajuru, a leader of the disbanded OSPAC vigilante group who was declared wanted over alleged murder of two soldiers and seizure of their two rifles about two months ago, is finally in police net.
Also in the police net is one ThankGod Aruka, an alleged member of a gang who kidnapped and murdered one Justice Azunda, a protocol officer to Emeka Woke, former Chief of Staff, Rivers State Government House.
Briefing journalists in Port Harcourt on Monday, Rivers Police Commissioner, CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka said Ajuru was arrested in Aluu -UDSS in Ikwerre local government area road in a Toyota Corolla car by operatives of Anti-cultism squad of the command last week’s Thursday.
CP Emeka stated that an AK 47 rifle, two Walkie – talkies, a police special constabulary ID were recovered from Ajuru and the occupants of the vehicle.
He said Ajuru confessed to have engaged and killed the two soldiers in a shoot out at Ndele.
Our correspondent reports that Dr. Chidi Lloyd, Chairman of Emohua local government area had accused Ajuru of being mastermind of illegal oil bunkering activities and other criminal activities in some communities in his local government area.
The local government chairman had consequently vowed that he would stop at nothing to ensure that Ajuru was arrested to answer for crimes against his people.
Also paraded by the Police Commissioner were members of a notorious fraud syndicate arrested based on complaints from some of their victims.
CP Emeka said members of the syndicate defrauded one Chima Ukaegbu, a total of N1,650,000 (one million,six hundred and fifty thousand naira)
According to him, the notorious syndicate also defrauded about 60 people of various amounts of money under the guise of recruiting and training for non-existent overseas jobs that include procurement of visa.
CP Emeka said operatives of the Command also rescued one Abaraka David on June 25. He was kidnapped on June 20.
According to him, when the command received information on kidnap of David, operatives mobilized to Okuegbe community in Ahoada-West Local Government Area, where a Ford Hilux was recovered also.
He further explained that on June 24, some criminals were vandalizing high tension cable at Koroma in Tai Local Government Area of Ogoniland were intercepted.
According to the police commissioner, operatives of Koroma Police Division recovered the vandalized cables, which were already loaded in a truck, while the suspects fled on sighting the Police.
Also, on June 26, operatives of the command arrested two suspected car thieves, they are one Prince Dugum and Royal Sunday and recovered a Toyota Sienna, belonging to one Ndubuisi Amadi from them.
In the same vein, operatives of the command and OSPAC on June 22, raided a black spot within Obio-Akpo local government area of the state during which substances suspected to be cannabis ,and other prohibited hard drugs were recovered.
He added that on June 25, operatives of the command while on patrol along Oroigwe road, at Elimgbu intercepted one Kingsley and recovered a browny pistol from him.
