Lagos State has trained 1,800 law enforcement officers from seven agencies to improve professionalism and service delivery.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced this at the 2026 passing out parade of the Lagos State Law Enforcement Training Institute on Thursday.
He was represented by Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Lawal Pedro SAN.
Sanwo-Olu said good law enforcement is key to good governance and a safe environment for residents, businesses and visitors.
He set out five principles for the officers: discipline and integrity, respect for the rule of law, professionalism and competence, respect for the public, and accountability and service.
He told the officers to treat the public fairly, because public cooperation depends on how they behave.
He also asked residents to obey lawful directives, respect public rules, protect public property and report concerns through proper channels.
The graduates come from the Vehicle Inspection Service, Kick Against Indiscipline, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, Community-Based Development, the Lagos State Parking Authority and the Lagos State Waterways Authority.
The institute's Head and Chief Executive Officer, Taiwo Bonnie, said the training covered law enforcement, technology, teamwork, health, first response and physical fitness.
Bonnie told the graduates that their uniform signals authority, but their character decides the respect they earn.
