On Friday, an angry mob in the A.A Koto area of Akwanga, Nasarawa State, lynched an unidentified man to death, accusing him of motorcycle theft.
Bawa Kyuni, a resident who confirmed the incident to DAILY POST, revealed that the victim was accused of stealing a Bajaj motorcycle.
However, instead of turning the alleged thief over to the police, the angry mob took matters into their own hands, beating him till he died.
“He was beaten until he died,” Kyuni said.
Another resident who witnessed the incident said Police operatives around the area could not stop the mob from lunching the alleged thief.
At of the the time of filing this report, efforts to reach the Nasarawa State Police Command for an official reaction have not been successful.
However, sources disclosed that soldiers of the Nigerian Army were deployed to the scene of the incident to restore normalcy and oversee the evacuation of the deceased’s body.
