Ben Nnabue, the president of NUATE, made the call on Thursday.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo has been urged to order an urgent forensic probe of the failed Nigeria Air project.
The call was made by the National Union of Air Transport Employees, NUATE.
Ben Nnabue, the president of NUATE, made the call on Thursday in his remarks at the 11th Quadrennial National Delegates’ Conference in Benin, Edo State.
He said the failed Nigerian Air project must not be swept under the carpet; instead, the National Carrier should be recast and remodelled to suit the country’s interest.
He noted that the success of the Nigeria Air project is instrumental to the growth of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
“I humbly urge the Minister of Aviation to conduct a forensic audit on the national carrier project, recast the general directions and represent them for delivery.
“It is important to state that the national carrier project is exceedingly vital to the growth of Nigerian aviation. The delivery should, therefore, not be undermined. We demand that the project be remodelled to benefit all stakeholders and fit the industry’s and national needs.”
Recall that the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo suspended the Nigeria Air project following mounting controversies.
The development came when the Nigeria Air was hurriedly unveiled at the twilight of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
