The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, said the report is incorrect.
The Abia State Government has said reports that it spent a whopping sum of N927 million for Governor Alex Otti’s meals, welfare packages and others in three months is untrue.
Recall that reports had earlier emerged online alleging that a budget performance report indicated that the government spent N927 million within three months on refreshments and meals, allowance, settlement of honorarium and welfare packages.
According to the reports, the Otti-led government spent N223,389,889.84 on refreshments and meals while N305,400,000.00 was spent on honorarium and sitting allowances for government officials within July and September 2023.
The report is currently generating controversies on social media as a cross section of Nigerians wondered how such amount of money was spent in the space of three months.
However, when contacted, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, said the report is incorrect.
He, however, promised to revert with detailed response to the viral report by an online platform.
He simply said, “The report is incorrect, there was nothing like that and we will do an official response to that.”
