Kylian Mbappe, the Paris Saint-Germain captain, has criticized Newcastle United after both teams’ UEFA Champions League 1-1 draw on Tuesday night in Paris.
Mbappe insisted that Newcastle had nothing, adding that PSG should have won the Champions League match.
Alexander Isak put Newcastle in front in the first half but the Premier League side were unable to hang on for the win as Tino Livramento was punished for a harsh handball in injury time, which allowed Mbappe to equalise from the penalty spot.
PSG dominated the game with thirty-one efforts on goal, while Newcastle United failed to register a shot on target after Isak’s opener in the 24th minute.
Speaking at his post-match interview after the game, Mbappe was critical of Newcastle’s approach to the game.
“It is frustrating because we dominated this team from start to finish,” Mbappe said.
“They have nothing. We knew it was their game to have nothing but we had to finish our chances better.
“We have too many chances for a Champions League match. It’s not the structure or the organisation, it’s us the players. We need to be much more diligent in front of goal,” he further stated.
